Ganduje, Emir Sanusi reconcile ....the reconciliation meeting was presided over by Ekiti state Gov, Fayemi The crisis between Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state and the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II may have come to an end after the duo reached a truce on Friday night, June 7, in Abuja, Daily Nigerian reports. The newspaper reports that President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier on Friday mediated in the matter. President Buhari reportedly intervened following calls by northern elders as the estrangement between the governor and the emir raised tension in the state. It was gathered that the president’s intervention comes a day to the expiration of a query issued to the emir by the state government, seeking answer on alleged misappropriation of the emirate’s finances. At the peace meeting held on Friday night, the governor and the emir reportedly agreed to sheath the sword for the interest of Kano and prevent break down of law and order. LASG warns against picking, dropping of passengers in unauthorised places Lagos State Government has warned those in the habit of picking and dropping passengers at undesignated bus stops, especially on the highways, to desist or face the full wrath of the law. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Taiwo Salaam, who handed down the warning, stated that the practice would not be condoned as it is disrupting free flow of traffic on the roads. He further stated that the directive is in line with Section 49 of the Lagos State Traffic Law which stipulates that it is an offence for commercial buses to pick or drop passengers on the fast lane, walkways or at undesignated bus stops. Salaam said that drivers of commercial vehicles are to utilise the relevant road infrastructures provided by the government for the drop off and pick up of passengers such as the lay-by and slip roads at various bus shelters/terminals across the metropolis. Akpabio apologises for leaving PDP By Dennis Erezi 06 June 2019 | 2:16 pm Nigerian lawmaker Senator Godswill Akpabio Thursday apologised to members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for leaving the party months before the 2019 general elections. “I apologize to my colleagues in the PDP for the manner I left,” Akpabio said at the 8th Senate valedictory session in Abuja. “I know they miss me.” Akpabio left the PDP in August 2018 for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). “Let the world know I’ve joined APC, I’m now a progressive,” Akpabio said in August 2018. “What I have done today is to link the people of Akwa Ibom to the centre.
