BREAKING: PDP’s Fintiri Dislodges Adamawa Governor. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ahmadu Fintiri winner of the Adamawa state governorship election. Andrew Haruna, returning officer for the election, made the declaration at the INEC office in Yola, the state capital, on Friday morning. Haruna said the PDP candidate scored 376,552 votes to beat Jibrila Bindow, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election and the incumbent governor, who scored 336,386 votes, leaving a margin of 40,166 between the two candidates. The March 9 election in the state had been declared inconclusive because the number of cancelled votes was higher than the margin between Fintiri and Bindow. But for a suit filed by one of the governorship candidates, the Adamawa supplementary election would have held on Saturday.

BREAKING: Olanipekun leads Legal Team Against Adeleke’s Victory At Osun Election Tribunal The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Gboyega Oyetola, the party’s governorship candidate in Osun State, have appealed the judgment of the Osun Election Petition Tribunal nullifying their victory at the polls. In a judgment given on March 22, 2019, two of the three-member panel had given a majority ruling in favour of Ademola Adeleke, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The tribunal had declared Adeleke the winner of the election and also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue him a certificate of return. The APC has filed a suit at the Court of Appeal in Abuja asking for a reversal of the judgment of the tribunal. Led by Wole Olanipekun (SAN), the APC’s team of lawyers have filed a notice on 39 grounds, faulting the judgment of Justice Peter Obiora and Justice Anyinla Gbolagunte, noting that there was no evidence to support the posit

POLITICS Why We Can’t Suspend Amaechi For Anti-Party Activities Like Okorocha –APC March 28, 2019. While Nigeria’s ruling party handed an indefinite suspension on Rochas Okorocha for supporting the governorship candidate of another party, it has not applied the same sanction on Rotimi Amaechi for doing something similar. The APC however justifies its action, saying the issues of the two officials, though similar, are different. In Imo, Mr Okorocha backed Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance against Hope Uzodinma of the APC. Both candidates lost to Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP. In Rivers, the Supreme Court barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from accepting candidates from the APC because of internal wrangling between two factions of the party. One APC faction in Rivers is loyal to the Minister of Transportation, Mr Amaechi, and another loyal to Magnus Abe, a senator. While the APC headquarters in Abuja recognised Mr Amaechi’s faction, Mr Abe’s appealed th

APC Can’t Stop Me From Becoming The Next Deputy Senate President – Uzor Kalu March 28, 2019 Orji Uzor Kalu Uzor Kalu, a former governor of Abia state, has indicated interest in contesting the position of the deputy senate president in 9th national assembly. Kalu, who is also Abia north senator-elect, wants the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone the position to the south-east in the interest of equity and justice. Speaking with journalists at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Wednesday, Kalu said he was aware that the APC, which had the majority in the senate, had zoned the senate president position to the north-east and the deputy-senate president to the north-west. Noting that he is a loyal party member, he said he would not listen to the APC if it tries to deter him from his ambition. “I am a very loyal party man. The party has zoned the senate presidency position to the north-east and I want to respect the party’s will. But the second position is what w
