Indian Hemps Smokers Sack School Teachers In Delta Heavy Smokers of marijuana otherwise known as Indian hemps in warri, Delta State, have allegedly Sacked teachers at Alieru Primary School in the area and have littered the classrooms with ungodly materials. Why FG Must Dump Plans To Increase Tax – Tinubu. Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has advised the federal government not to increase value added tax (VAT). Speaking at the colloquium held in commemoration of his 67th birthday, the APC leader counselled the government to widen the tax net. He said increasing VAT was tantamount to reducing the purchasing power of the people. “I must say this to Prof Osinbajo and his team, don’t increase VAT but increase tax net to accommodate those who are not yet paying,” he said. “Don’t reduce the people’s purchasing power.” Speaking further, Tinubu said: “We must criticise ourselves.”
Adamawa Governor-elect To Pay N30,000 Minimum Wage. Adamawa Governor-elect, Ahmadu Fintiri has promised to implement the new minimum wage of N30,000 when approved by President Buhari. Mr Fintiri who emerged winner on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made the promise on Friday while speaking with journalists in Yola. He defeated incumbent Gov. Muhammadu Bindow of All Progressives Congress (APC) and 28 other candidates in the just-concluded supplementary governorship election. He said that “I will give civil service priority attention and make it more effective. “As a matter of matter of priority, I will be first to implement it, so that we don’t experience any workers strike,” Mr Fintiri said. He also assured students that his administration would be committed to resuscitating scholarship scheme, youth empowerment and other programmes to move the state forward. “We are also going to pay WAEC and NECO fees for students to reduce burden on parents,” Fintiri said.
Boko Haram Storms Chibok Again, Wrecks Houses. Houses in Gatamwarwa, Chibok local government, Borno state have been razed down by suspected members of Boko Haram, report confirmed. The insurgents were said to have stormed in around 5pm on Thursday through Askira, shooting sporadically and leaving many villagers running for safety. “They came in tens of motorcycles,” a resident said I’m privy. “They started shooting and setting houses ablaze.” Gatamwarwa is about 19 kilometres away from Chibok town.
