Saint Mark, the writer of the second book of the New Testament, the Gospel of Mark, was African. He was from Libya. Mark founded the church at Alexandria, Egypt, but the pagans of the city resented his efforts to turn the Alexandrians away from the worship of their traditional gods. In 68 AD, they placed a rope around his neck and dragged him through the streets until he died. #HistoryVille#
