Home News News INEC Releases Timetable For Bayelsa, Kogi Gov Polls This Week By Afemai Reporter - April 8, 2019 …Proposes N45.5bn annual budget The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday said it will release, before the end of this week, the timetable and schedule of activities for the end of tenure governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi States billed to hold at separate dates later this year. Its chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made the disclosure when he led other members of the Commission to defend the Commission’s 2019 budget proposal before a joint session of the Senate Committee on INEC and House Committee on Electoral matters. Accident Claims Three Lives On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway April 8, 2019 Three persons were confirmed dead in an accident on Monday involving a tipper loaded with granite and a Dangote truck around Mile 12 Market, Ogere, Ogun, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in Ogun State, confirmed the incident to journalists in Abeokuta. Mr Akinbiyi said the accident occurred around 5:45 a.m., and added that the accident was caused by the tipper with registration number MUS-589 XX. “We learnt that the tipper was heading inbound Lagos on top speed from a Quarry at Isara. It lost control and rammed into the Dangote truck with registration number NSR-89 YQ from behind. “The three people who lost their lives were in the loaded tipper. “The two vehicles were taken to the Police Motor Traffic Division at Ogere,’’ he said. AMBODE PRE-LAUNCHES $50M FACTORY IN LEKKI Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday performed the pre-launch of a $50 million manufacturing plant in Lekki Free Zone, where he expressed optimism that the facility would go a long way to create jobs and boost the nation’s foreign exchange earnings. Speaking at the pre-launch of the factory belonging to Longrich, a Chinese firm, Ambode said the facility was another success story of the efforts of the state government in attracting investment, as well as an eloquent confirmation of the strategic importance of the free trade zone to the State’s economy.
