BREAKING: Ganduje Signs Bill Seeking Creation Of Four New Emirates In Kano Channels Television Updated May 8, 2019 Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has assented the bill seeking the establishment of four additional first class Emirates in Kano State. Ganduje’s assent comes on the heels of a passage of the bill by the Kano State House of Assembly. The House at noon on Wednesday passed the bill for the creation of four additional first class Emirates to be situated in Rano, Gaya, Karaya and Bichi. This follows the approval of the amendment of the local government and chieftaincy affairs law by the lawmakers, during their sitting on Wednesday. POLITICISATION OF SECURITY RESPONSIBLE FOR INSECURITY -GOVERNOR WIKE Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that the politicisation of security in the country is responsible for the insecurity across the country. Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Charge D'Affairs, Embassy of Netherlands at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Governor Wike said when security issues involve opposition states, the authorities play politics. He said: "The problem we have is the politicisation of security. As an opposition state, once we have security challenges, politics is introduced ". He urged the Government of Netherlands to give Rivers State the support to tackle insecurity in the state. Governor Wike blamed multinational companies for encouraging insecurity by patronizing cultists for surveillance jobs. "Shell is part of the major culprits. The ‘Bill for an act to amend the Federal Character Commission (Establishment, etc) Act, 2010, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, Cap F7 to give married women the option of indigeneship and for related matters’ was passed at Tuesday’s plenary session. It would give married women the option of choosing the indigeneship of either their father or husband if passed into law. Suleiman, the Controller of Prisons, Bauchi State Command, has said that five persons who were sentenced to death-by-stoning; and 10 others whose legs and hands are to be amputated are awaiting the day of judgment. Suleiman, who spoke in an interview with newsmen in his office on Tuesday on the state of prison in Bauchi, also lamented that these two sets of convicts have been in jail for over 10 years with action not taken on them He said six other inmates have also been condemned to death, five are currently on life sentence, while 188 are on various jail terms of two years and above.
