BREAKING: Court restrains Ganduje from issuing appointment letters to new emirs A Kano High Court sitting at Ungogo on Friday granted an order restraining the governor of Kano Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from taking any action to legitimize the establishment of new emirates of Rano, Bichi, Gaya and Karaye. In a radio jingle aired on local stations, the governor planned to issue appointment letters to the new emirs at Kofar Mata Indoor Sports Hall. But Justice Nasiru Saminu, in a suit filed by one Nasiru Sule Gwarzo, gave an interim injunction directing all parties in the suit to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice. The judge also gave an order directing the state governor and Government Printer to halt the publication and release of the law that created the emirates.

NANS President, Akpan threatened to make Ondo ungovernable – Akeredolu The Governor of Ondo State, Olawarotimi Akeredolu, has refuted the claims of the National President of the National Association of Nigeria Students, NANS, Daniel Bamidele Akpan, of being chased out of the Governor’s Office during a purported meeting on the closure of the state-owned universities. Akeredolu, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Youth and Students Affairs, Banji Adewumi. berated the NANS President for allegedly twisting all that transpired during the meeting with the governor. Adewumi accused the NANS executives of requesting for personal gratification from the governor instead of championing the case of the affected students whose predicament they negotiated with to meet the governor.
