ODSG Begins Construction Of Adaba FM Road Ondo State Government has commenced the construction of the 1.9 kilometre Adaba FM road. Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, on Friday while on inspection tour of ongoing projects around the capital city, Akure visited the road. The General Manager of Adaba FM, Mr Martins Ayoola, who received the Governor expressed delight. He added that it would mark the beginning of more collaborations between the station and the government. Governor Akeredolu said construction of road for accessibility was the responsibility of government. He applauded the radio station for the role it performing in the State.

World Bank Gets New President April 5, 2019 David Malpass, World Bank, world news The Executive Directors of the World Bank on Friday unanimously selected David Malpass as the new president of the World Bank Group. Mr Malpass’ five-year term will begin on April 9. A statement by the group said the Board expressed its deep gratitude to Interim President, Kristalina Georgieva, for her dedication and leadership in recent months. The executive directors followed the selection process agreed in 2011. The process included an open, transparent nomination where any national of the Bank’s membership could be proposed by any Executive Director or Governor through an Executive Director. The process was then followed by a thorough due diligence and a comprehensive interview of Mr. Malpass by the Executive Directors. APC Reacts To CJN Onnoghen’s Resignation The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed satisfaction with the resignation of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen. The party said this vindicates its call for the resignation of the CJN following the allegations of false asset declaration brought against him. The national publicity secretary of the party, Lanre Issa-onilu, made this known while briefing journalists at its secretariat in Abuja on Friday. “Events have proven the party, APC, right. Events have proven those Nigerians who believe Nigeria first and any other things after – events have proven them right,” Mr Issa-Onilu said. Mr Onnoghen is facing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal for allegations of false declaration of assets. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) also accuses the former CJN of receiving illicit payments and bribes from lawyers. The suspended CJN resigned today. JUST IN: Chief Justice Onnnoghen Resigns ‘With Immediate Effect’ April 5, 2019 CJN, News Alert, NJC, Onnoghen Walter Onnoghen has resigned as the chief justice of Nigeria “with immediate effect”, an online newspaper, TheCable reports. According to the report, Mr. Onnoghen turned in his resignation letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday evening, April 4, 2019, a day after the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended that he be compulsorily retired for misconduct. By virtue of section 306 of the 1999 constitution, his resignation takes immediate effect.
