Nigerian Online Newspaper Buhari Anoints Candidates For Speaker, Senate President Of 9th National Assembly Report says President Muhammadu Buhari has given the nod to Ahmad Lawan as senate president and Femi Gbajabiamila as speaker of the house of representatives in the in-coming national assembly. The national working committee (NWC) of the ruling party was in a meeting with the newly elected APC members in the house of representatives on Monday when this report was filed. Lawan and Gbajabiamila, who are currently the leaders of the APC caucus in the upper and lower chambers of the national assembly, enjoyed the support of the president in 2015 but Senate President Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of reps, teamed up with some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers to edge them out. POLITICS Ndume Joins Senate Presidency Race, Writes Oshiomhole  March 25, 2019 Ali Ndume, News Alert, Nigerian senate The senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has announced his intention to run for the office of the President of the Senate in the 9th National Assembly. Mr Ndume, made this known in an intent letter to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole dated March 25 and made available to journalists in Abuja on Monday. In the letter, Mr Ndume sought the blessing of the party to contest, believing the position would be zoned to the North East zone where he hails from. Mr Ndume, a former Leader of the Senate, in the letter, said his plan to contest for the position is as a result of his desire to help improve the economic situation of the country. JUST IN: Another Building Collapses In Lagos Island. A three-storey building has reportedly collapsed in Kakawa street, Lagos Island on Monday. According to a resident of the street, no one was trapped because the building was marked for demolition and occupants had vacated. The Nation reports that The collapsed structure, however, affected a bungalow with three occupants.

As part of strategy to reduce incidences of Tuberculosis in the State, the Ondo State Government has commemorated the 2019 World Tuberculosis Day by embarking on Road Walk and conducting free screening. Stakeholders took off for the Road Walk from the Ondo State Cultural Center Adegbemile through Oja Oba to Oba Ademuagun hall (formerly Akure City Hall) almist funfair to sensitise residents on tuberculosis and also distributed educative fliers on TB. In the words of the TB Programme Officerr of the Ondo State Primary Healthcare Board, Mrs Olufunke Adeniyi said the World TB Day is an annual world sensitisation event done to bring people together so that they can know as much as possible about Tuberculosis, it’s signs, symtoms, causative organisms and how to access care. POLITICS BREAKING: Court Strikes Out APC Candidate’s Suit Seeking To Stop Collation Of Bauchi Governorship Election Results  March 25, 2019 APC, Bauchi state, INCE, News Alert An Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has deferred its judgement in a suit challenging the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to continue with the collation of results in Bauchi State, after an initial suspension of the results. The court had entertained a suit filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Governor Mohammed Abubakar, asking the court to determine whether INEC has the powers to decide collation of results after the announcement of a suspension. Mr Abubakar’s lawyer, Ahmed Raji, had approached the court requesting among other things, an ex-parte application preventing INEC from proceeding with its decision to collate results in the state.
