BREAKING: IMF Ranks Nigeria Second Worst In The World In Use Of Sovereign Wealth Fund April 10, 2019 IMF, News Alert, Nigeria, world news The International Monetary Fund has ranked Nigeria as the second worst country in the world in the use of sovereign wealth funds. According to the Fiscal Monitor report released on Wednesday, Qatar was the only country worse than Nigeria on the index. The Bretton Wood institution said the index was compiled using the corporate governance and transparency scores of the sovereign wealth funds and the size of assets as a percentage of 2016 GDP of the countries considered.

The library is a repository of information and knowledge. It's home to ideas and facts of the past, present and future. Today, I was at Bayelsa State Library, named after our literary icon, Pa Gabriel Okara, where I interacted with its management and members of staff. My Foundation will consider partnering with the Library to equip "an archive section" where facts and information about past and present leaders of the State, as well as all citizens who have distinguished themselves in their various fields, will be well documented. -Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Police Arrest Five Kidnappers In Ondo Five suspected kidnappers terrorizing Ondo state residents were on Wednesday arrested by men of the Nigeria Police. They were apprehended following the abduction of one Omoghae Igbegbon along Akunnu – Akoko/Auga – Akoko road. They allegedly disposed him of N185,000 and demanded for N30m ransom for his release. Addressing reporters at state police command headquarters, Akure, Police Commissioner, Undie Adie said it took the spirited efforts of his men to track the kidnappers to their hideout in Ibilo, Edo State. He said: ”On April 2nd, one Prince Omoghae Igbegbon of Senior Staff Quarters, NIFOR, Benin City Edo State was attacked by unknown gunmen numbering six along Akunnu Akoko/Auga Akoko Road in Ondo State. “The hoodlums robbed him of N185,000 and dragged him into the bush. BREAKING NEWS: Popular Nigerian Pastor And Philanthropist Is Dead 247nnu.ng Apr 10, 2019 1:00 PM Nigerian popular female pastor and philanthropist, Prophetess Nonnie Roberson is dead. DAILY POST gathered that the cleric died Wednesday morning after complaining of abdominal pain. Confirming the death to this newspaper, one of her associates, Elder Theophilus said Nonnie passed away in the early hours of Wednesday at Nizamiye Hospital. ”She died of abdominal pains which she complained of on Sunday,” he added. Nonnie Roberson is the founder of Sisterhood Africa (SHA), a closed group of over one million women, who she ministers to and counsels. She was a seasoned midwife, seer, prophetess and was married with four biological children.
BREAKING: Anambra Assembly Passes Bill Reducing Cost Of Burial, Duration Of Mourning The just passed bill provides that in the event of death, no person shall deposit any corpse in the mortuary or any place beyond two months from the day of the death. The bill also noted that from the commencement of the law, no person shall subject any relation of the deceased person to a mourning period of more than one week from the date of burial ceremony. Senate President tussle: Lawan’s fate hangs as thirty-five APC Senators back Ndume Against the adoption of Senator Ahmed Lawan by the ruling All Progressives Congress, there are strong indications that no fewer than thirty-five Senators from the APC are backing former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume to clinch the seat of Senate President for the Ninth Assembly. Army decorates Obasanjo’s son, 11 others Adebayo Obasanjo, a son of former President Olusegin Obasanjo, and 11 other senior military officers at the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army were yesterday decorated with their new ranks after the Army Council’s approval of 226 for the nationwide exercise. The ceremony held at the military formation’s headquarters in Jos. Colonel Obasanjo was promoted from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The junior Obasanjo was two years ago, rushed back from the battle front where he sustained serious injuries while engaging the Boko Haram in Adamawa State. Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Tukur Burati, was represented at the event by Major General Nicholas Ibe Rogers, the commander of the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a peace operation stationed in Plateau and parts of Bauchi state. A First Class graduate of Mathematics at the University of Ibadan in 1957, Iya Abubakar is the first Northern-Nigerian to earn a PhD in any field when he earned it at the University of Cambridge at the age of 28. At 33, he became the only Nigerian appointed as a Professor in the department of Mathematics at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. At 37, Abubakar became the Head of Department, Mathematics/Computer Science of the University. At age 40, the Adamawa-born egghead became the second indigenous Vice Chancellor of ABU, Zaria until he retired from academics at the age of 44 in 1978. #HistoryVille
