Be humbled by your victories, Governor Wike tells State Lawmakers Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that all elected representatives of the state should be humbled by their victories and re-dedicate themselves to the service of Rivers people. Speaking during a congratulatory visit by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Wike said that the support of the people and God made the victorious possible. "This victory should humble everyone and ensure that we re-dedicate ourselves to serve the people. "We should see this as an opportunity to ensure a new beginning". Footage posted online shows a large fire engulfing the upper part of the cathedral, with the flames licking around its two bell towers. A major operation was under way, the fire department added, while a city hall spokesman said on Twitter that the area was being cleared. Officials in Paris said the fire, which started around 7pm local time, could be linked to renovation works being carried out at the cathedral. French media reports added that the fire was started by accident, citing police sources. Omokri reacts as Keyamo says Buhari doesn’t need WAEC certificate to become President Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the claim by the spokesman for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, that one does not need a WAEC certificate to become President of Nigeria. Keyamo had in an interview on Sunday claimed that under the Nigerian constitution, one does not need a WAEC certificate to become President of Nigeria. According to him, if you have occupied the public office for a reasonable length of time, you do not need a WAEC certificate to become president of Nigeria. RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT TO TACKLE CULT- RELATED KILLINGS --GOVERNOR WIKE Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the State Government will frontally tackle cult-related killings in parts of the state. Speaking at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday when the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers paid him a congratulatory visit on his re-election, Governor Wike said that his administration will take the fight to cultists. He said: "We will not allow these cultists who want to paint the state black continue to cause mayhem. "We will take the fight to them. Enough is enough. These people cannot continue to kill our people ". JUST IN: Protest Hits Abuja As indigenes Troop Out Against Army Over Forceful Land Takeover. April 15, 2019 Abuja News, News Alert The coalition of FCT indigenous Association in Collaboration with affected communities are currently protesting against an alleged forceful takeover of lands by the Nigerian army, Nigerian Cable News online can report. The said takeover are said to be in giri, kapkuru, Ido Sarki, Zuba and Tunga maje areas of Abuja. The protesters in their hundreds are gathered at the FCDA office in area 11 Garki Abuja. The leader of the troop who refused to mention his name said there will be no vehicular movement of staff and work in the secretariat until there is a genuine intervention by necessary stakeholders. Efforts by our correspondent to hear from the FCDA management over the protest which started around 15 minutes to 9:00am and is still ongoing as at the time of filing this report has proved abortive.
