Police Arrest Notorious Suspected Kidnapper In Ondo April 4, 2019 Police in conjunction with Meyatti Allah and community vigilante have arrested one of the notorious kidnappers terrorising travelers along Akunu-Ikakumo-Auga road in Akoko area of Ondo state. Sources said a man yet-to-be identified was travelling in his Mercedes benz car with registration Edo Ben 203 PW when he was kidnapped. His vehicle was reportedly abandoned between Auga and Akunu with the owner marched into the bush. It was learnt that a synergy between Edo and Ondo states Policemen coupled with Meyatti Allah group that pursued the kidnappers and exchanged gun shots with them, making it possible for the victim to escape from captivity around Ibillo, a community in Edo state. Bursar Of Anglican Church Shot Dead In Akure Gabriel Abiodun, the bursar of the Akure diocese of the Anglican Communion, has been shot dead. Abiodun was killed at the diocesan office at Alagbaka area of Ondo state capital on Thursday. His assailants opened fire on him shortly after he returned from a new generation bank where he reportedly collected money meant for the church. He was said to have been trailed from the bank to the church premises. His remains have been evacuated by the police. Security has been beefed up in the area just as sympathisers have started trooping to the church. Femi Joseph, spokesman of the Ondo police command, said the police had commenced investigation into the matter.

UPDATE: Buhari Yet To Sign N30,000 Minimum Wage Bill – Presidency The Presidency said on Wednesday that President Muhammadu Buhari had yet to sign the National Minimum Wage Bill just passed by the National Assembly into law, contrary to reports last week that he had done so. The Senate had on March 19 passed the bill, approving N30, 000 as the new national minimum wage. By its action, the Senate concurred the earlier decision of the House of Representatives, which passed the bill before the National Assembly shut down its operations to enable lawmakers to participate in the 2019 general elections, beginning from February 16. JUST IN: Police Dismiss Officer Who Killed Kolade Johnson April 4, 2019 Kolade Johnson, News Alert The Nigerian Police have announced the dismissal of Ogunyemi Olalekan, an inspector, who the police said shot and killed a 36-year-old man, Kolade Johnson, in Lagos on Sunday. Police also discharged and acquitted another officer, Godwin Orji, a sergeant, who was also tried alongside Mr Olalekan, but found not guilty of the offence. Popular Nollywood Actress Dies After Childbirth April 3, 2019 Popular Nollywood actress, Olabisi Monsurat Ishola popularly known as Bisket has been confirmed dead days after welcoming her baby. According to reports, Bisket, a member of Theatre and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), passed away during the weekend barely 10 days after welcoming her new baby. A colleague of the late actress, Omolola Olumide confirmed the death of CEO of Bisket Movie Concept. It was also gathered that the late actress and producer was a member of the Lagos Island branch of TAMPAN. Bisket’s death is coming almost three months after the death of a colleague, Gbenga Akintunde aka Burger, who died at the age of 47 on January 4 2019. BREAKING: ASUU Resumes Indefinite Strike April 3, 2019 ASUU strike, News Alert The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University chapter, on Wednesday resumed indefinite strike to press home its demands. The union had embarked on a strike in 2018 but suspended it when the Taraba government promised to meet its demands which included the payment of earned academic allowances from 2014 till date, and the provision of required infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning.
