PRINCE (BARR.) AKINFOLARIN ELUMARO MICHAEL EMERGES LAROGBO-ELECT OF AKOTOGBO.
Barr. Elumaro Michael Akinfolarin from Hendoro Ruling House has emerged as the Larogbo-elect of Akotogbo having polled a total number of four (4) votes over Prince Adeteye Akindele Sunday from Igodan Moko Ruling House who polled zero vote (0). Prince Akinfolarin Elumaro Michael's emergence was keenly contested with rigorous processes.
Recall that Ondo State Government had on May 21, 2023, approved the filling of Larogbo stool which had been vacant since 2009 after the death of His Royal Highness, Oba Martins Jolaade Turoti.
Stakeholders had insisted on relying on the Culture of Akotogbo which requires that the candidates for Larogbo stool be selected through thorough consultation of 'Ifa Oracle'. This was observed and according to the Ifa priests, two candidates were eligible to become Oba.
Following the recommendation of the 'Ifa Priests'and the requirements of the Chiefs Law of Ondo State, an election was held.
Five out of the seven kingmakers were in attendance which was above the two-thirds requirement of the law. Following the selection of the two candidates by the Ifa Priests, the five kingmakers concluded the final stage of the selection process by voting for the candidates.
After the Keenly contested voting process, Prince (Barr. ) Akinfolarin Elmumaro Michael emerged as the Larogbo-elect of Akotogbo having polled the highest votes(4 votes).
The Larogbo-elect of Akotogbo, Prince (Barr.) Akinfolarin Elmumaro Michael's emergence was announced by the Secretary to Irele Local Government, Mr Temenu Oladipupo assisted by the Director of Community Development, Pastor JB Orukotan, the Chieftancy Committee Secretary, Dr Akinbola Omosuwa and with the Executive Chairman of Irele Local Government, Hon. (Barr. ) Olusegun Ajimotokin in attendance.
Dr Akin Erics Olagbayi who delivered the votes of thanks appreciated the Irele Local Government officials led by the Honourable Chairman, Hon. (Barr. ) Olusegun Ajimotokin for a hitch-free conduct of the selection process.
Other personalities in attendance during the conduct of the selection were; the Regent of Akotogbo who doubles as the representative of the Odunwo family, High Chief Emoruwa Iwalewa, High Chief Enoch Oyewumi represented Obolo Ruling House, High Chief Joseph Adeoye represented Hendoro Ruling House, Dr Olagbayi Akin Erics represented Lijoka family, Mr Omolafe Ayo represented Moko Family, Akotogbo Community Youth Leader, the Information Officer, Mrs Grace Adeyehun, security operatives, and pressmen among others.
