BREAKING: Court restrains Ganduje from issuing appointment letters to new emirs
A Kano High Court sitting at Ungogo on Friday granted an order restraining the governor of Kano Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from taking any action to legitimize the establishment of new emirates of Rano, Bichi, Gaya and Karaye.
In a radio jingle aired on local stations, the governor planned to issue appointment letters to the new emirs at Kofar Mata Indoor Sports Hall.
But Justice Nasiru Saminu, in a suit filed by one Nasiru Sule Gwarzo, gave an interim injunction directing all parties in the suit to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
The judge also gave an order directing the state governor and Government Printer to halt the publication and release of the law that created the emirates.
