Breaking: Court Rules for Arraignment of Sowore & Mandate As both Plead Not Guilty to All Counts including (1) Treason (2) Cyberstalking (3) Money Laundering Sowore laughed when the count of Money laundering was read. He said he doesn’t have a UBA account and that he doesn’t understand what the prosecutor is up to. He had also reacted to the first count saying that he had been arrested on 3rd of August and does not understand  what is meant by “staging protest to overthrow the president on 5th of August” meant. The prosecution asked the court to allow Sowore be returned to detention as trial continues but Defense counsel objected that it was not right, since the defendants had been held in custody for several days already and the DSS said their investigation had been concluded. He also argued that the prosecution has no witness for their claims at moment and would not be fair to continue holding the defendants. Judge asked the defense counsel to file another formal appl

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: BE HUMBLE Oba Adeniran Adeyemi II was the Alaafin of Oyo, between 1945 and 1954, until he was forced into exile by the Action Group- led government of the Western Region of Nigeria, as a result of the death of the Deputy leader of the Action Group, Chief Bode Thomas (1918–1953), and also for having sympathy, for the rival National Council of Nigerian Citizens (NCNC) party of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. Thomas was a brilliant lawyer, but also very haughty and arrogant. He was made the Divisional Council Chairman in 1953, while the Alaafin of Oyo was a mere member. On his first appearance in council, after being appointed chairman, all the council members stood up for him in deference, to welcome him except Oba Adeyemi II, who for cultural reasons, could not show deference to anyone in public. Bode Thomas rudely shouted at the king, for having the temerity and audacity to disrespect him. “Why are you sitting when I walked in, you don’t know how to show respect?” A

The Federal Government will on Monday, September 30th arraign Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore, before the Federal High Court in Abuja. According to a report by Punch, he is to be arraigned on seven counts of treasonable felony, money laundering and cybercrimes which was instituted against him by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation. The Department of State Service, which has been detaining the former presidential candidate since August 3, continues to hold him in custody in violation of the court order granting him bail six days ago.  Justice Taiwo Taiwo, who earlier on August 8, granted the DSS permission to hold the activist for 45, had on September 24, granted him bail. Despite meeting the bail condition on September 25, Sowore has not been released by the DSS. Sources also confirm that the criminal case instituted against Sowore was not assigned to Justice Taiwo Taiwo, but to Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, who has subsequently fixed Monday for arraignmen

Lawmakers Urge Justice Ojukwu To Recuse Self From Sowore’s Case The Lekki Forum of the Nigerian Bar Association has called on Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to recuse herself from presiding over the case brought against pro-democracy campaigner and Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, by the Nigerian Government. The lawmakers stated that Justice Ojukwu should not preside over the case as the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and the Department of State Services had refused to abide by the order of Justice Taiwo Taiwo of coordinate jurisdiction, asking Sowore to be released on bail. Justice Taiwo had last Tuesday asked the DSS to release Sowore on bail after the expiration of the 45 days detention order given to the security agency. The NBA chapter in a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the Lekki Forum, Yakubu Eleto, posited that Justice Ojukwu must reject taking the case to save the judiciary from “executive recklessness” and

Around 1675, King Houegbaja of Dahomey formed the Dahomey Amazons, originally, to hunt elephants. However, they became a feared all-female military regiment under King Ghezo, participating in slave raids and the unsuccessful wars against the Egba people of Abeokuta in the middle of the 19th century. The women's army consisted of a number of regiments; huntresses, riflewomen, reapers, archers, and gunners. Each regiment had different uniforms, weapons, and commanders.#Historyville#

ROBERT MUGABE, once the liberator, later the dictator of Zimbabwe, died yesterday at the age of 95. His death was announced by his successor, Emmerson Mnangagwa, who mourned him as an "icon of liberation". Since 1980, he'd had a 37-year stranglehold on Zimbabwean politics, ruling as Prime Minister until 1987 and then as President until he was overthrown in 2017. He developed a reputation as a crooked politician, who used corruption, famine, persecution, violence and bloodshed to stay in power. During his reign, the Zimbabwe economy crumbled, but despite his many controversies, there are plenty in the country who view him as a hero, with some idolising him for standing up to and challenging Western powers, including the British who were the colonial rulers of Zimbabwe. Mugabe was famously outspoken and was infamous for his comments about religion, sexuality and politics. These are some of the raw, hilarious and unforgettable Robert Mugabe quotes: 1. We of Africa

Between 1885 and 1961, Belgium killed over 10 million Congolese in DR Congo including its first Prime Minister Patrice Émery Lumumba (pictured). In his only book "Congo My Country", a man who dedicated himself to Africa and, since his death, has become a myth, made a declaration of faith. Lumumba wrote the book in 1956-7, although it was only published in Belgium after his death, in 1961. this lapse of time is important, for here we have not the frenzied figure who bestrode the world politics briefly in 1960, but a 'moderate' nationalist (an attitude scorned by militant pan-Africanists)--liberal-minded, fair and reasonable. His ideas are seen developing and changing; and we can study for the first time the attitude of the Congolese élite on the eve of Independence. What of attitude of this élite to the Belgian colonial rulers? 'The main aim of my book', wrote Lumumba, 'is to bring home to the Belgians and Congolese the imperative and urgent need to achie
