Addressing roadside mechanics, roadside car dealers, street traders and private taxi park operators at the Government House Port Harcourt on Friday, Governor Wike said that the artisans and traders must comply with the stipulated period, because his administration is committed to the restoration of the Garden City status of Port Harcourt. He said: "I am giving all groups one month to leave the roads. Within this one month, you should find alternative locations to carry out your businesses. Sanwo-Olu visits Olusosun dumpsite Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State today visited the Olusosun dump site in furtherance of his pledge to improve the environmental situation as contained in the first Executive Order on Environmental and Sanitation Matters signed recently. Speaking during a visit to the dumpsite, alongside his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Governor said: “we are here today to validate the Executive Order we signed. This is where we receive 70 per cent of the waste in Lagos. The facility is 28years old so we want to ensure that it can receive waste for the next 23years’’, he said. The Governor expressed the possibility of the return of the monthly sanitation exercise after consultations with various stakeholders. “We are going to ask Lagosians if they want us to return the three-hour monthly sanitation exercise to ensure that we have a cleaner city. IGP ORDERS REDEPLOYMENT OF CP AHMED ILIYASU TO KANO COMMAND AS CP WAKILI MOHAMMED BOWS OUT OF THE FORCE. The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni, has ordered the immediate posting of CP Ahmed Iliyasu to Kano State Command as Commissioner of Police in charge of the State. He takes over from CP Wakili Mohammed, who retired from the Force on 26th May, 2019 after 35years of unqualified meritorious service to the Force and the Nation at large. CP Ahmed Iliyasu, who holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, was until his recent deployment, the Force Provost Marshal, Force Headquarters, Abuja. He had also held command position as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Ogun State Command from 2016 to January, 2019. He is expected to bring to bear his wide policing and law enforcement experience in managing the complex security challenges in the beautiful and ancient city of Kano. N60 million Money Laundering: SSG Brother in EFCC Net The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Sokoto zonal office, on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 arrested one suspected politician with N60, 000, 000 (Sixty Million Naira) cash, following intelligent report of his suspicious money laundering activities. The suspect Murtala Muhammad who is alleged to be a brother to Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Professor Abdullahi Shinkafi, was arrested at No.145 Igala Hausing Estate, Off Byepass Road, Gusau, Zamfara State, by the operatives of the Commission. GHANAIAN VARSITY OFFERS $40,000 SCHOLARSHIP TO UTME BEST, EKENE ACADEMIC City College, a private university in Accra, Ghana, has offered scholarship worth $40,000 to Ekene Franklin Ezeunala, the candidate who scored 347 – the highest score – in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The College Senior Admissions Manager (Nigeria), Mrs Ogechi Ekpe, said on the sidelines of a workshop organised by the institution for schools and parents at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, at the weekend that the scholarship would cover tuition and boarding for the duration of his programme at the university. “We have a full scholarship for Ekene. He was supposed to be here today (Friday) but we did not talk about the scholarship today because he was not here.
